Veteran NBC Executive Marc Graboff To Exit
The last top player from the Jeff Zucker regime at NBC is gone. Marc Graboff, a 11-year NBC veteran, will be leaving the network. NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt broke the news to his staff in an email (below). The likable Graboff had been steadily rising in the ranks at NBC, starting off as head of business affairs and ultimately becoming chairman of NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios following the exit of Ben Silverman. But he had started to feel like the odd man out under the new network regime. Even his title was overlapping with that of NBC’s new chief, Bob Greenblatt, who is chairman of NBC Entertainment, overseeing the network and studio Universal TV. When, with Comcast’s blessing, Graboff was signed into a new 3-year contract in the summer of 2010, it was a signal that the new owners were relying on Graboff’s deep institutional knowledge of NBC as he has been involved in all big network decisions during the past decade and has been the deal-maker leading all major negotiations. (As such, he also knows where all the bodies are buried, many noted.) Graboff also was tasked with guiding two NBC toppers who were parachuted in with no executive experience, Zucker and Silverman. ‘Cougar Town’ Order Cut To 15 Episodes, Comedy Eyed For March Launch
EXCLUSIVE: Here is some good news and some bad news for Cougar Town fans who were outraged by the fact that the third-year comedy is missing from ABC’s midseason schedule released this afternoon. First, the bad news. Because Cougar Town is not on that schedule, meaning that it won’t launch before March, its full-season 22-episode order has been reduced to 15 episodes. Now the (semi-)good news. Rumor is that the series starring Courteney Cox will return in March, taking over the Tuesday 8:30 PM slot after Work It finishes its run. It would be paired with the Tim Allen starrer Last Man Standing.

otherwise today to discuss ousting board member Michael Ovitz in response to allegations he’s maneuvering inside the board and with Forstmann, Little & Co investors to run and/or own the global management and production giant. Also, let me say definitively that Mike Dolan is and will remain for some time IMG’s President/COO because he was handpicked by chairman/owner Teddy Forstmann to run the company. The 71-year-old Forstmann is battling brain cancer in a very public and courageous struggle. Forstmann specifically told his board members that, no matter what happened to him, Dolan was to be given a minimum of 2 to 3 years to continue running IMG’s global sports, fashion, entertainment, and media business if not longer. IMG’s board is purely an advisory board since this is a private company (and not like a board of directors of a public corporation) and therefore does not have the power to remove any board member much less Ovitz.
