EXCLUSIVE: Senior TV talent agent Steve Small told Paradigm today that he is leaving the agency to “pursue a more creative aspect of the business”.
Small told the tenpercentery he’ll announce his plans next week. He came from Writers And Artists agency when it merged with Paradigm and was head of talent for a couple of years, then began reporting to Norm Aladjem. Small’s departure follows the exit of Alternative TV agent Cameron Kadison last night to start that unit for Principato Young management.

Paradigm Loses Senior TV Talent Agent
Britney Spears bf Jason Trawick is about to propose, will her conservatorship end?
Is a holiday proposal more romantic? I think it is. Christmas is kind of romantic anyway, so whenever that time of year rolls around there will be small reminders of that special moment. People Magazine is reporting that Britney Spears’ longterm boyfriend, talent agent Jason Trawick, is about to propose to her. We’ve heard this [...]
Matt Bellamys bandmates hate Kate Hudson, call her Yoko
All things considered, I really shouldn’t like Kate Hudson that much. Her Hollywood acting career has consisted of one decent performance that could probably be attributed more to Cameron Crowe’s directing skills than any true talent on her part; and she’s coasted upon the goodwill from Almost Famous to make many millions of dollars from [...]
Hollywood Talent Scammer Nick Roses Sentenced For Scheme Putting Kids At Risk
![]()
There’s a new development in that Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office crackdown on Hollywood managers and agencies it believes are running afoul of the state’s labor law, the Krekorian Talent Scam Prevention Act of 2009, which prohibits charging advance fees. Four talent managers have been accused of charging improper fees, the highest-profile one being Nick Roses. Now this week Roses, the one-time 21-year-old wunderkind talent manager based in Studio City, entered a no-contest plea to one count of operating an advance-fee talent representation service and one count of failing to file the proper $50,000 bond with the State Labor Commission. Judge Yolanda Orozco sentenced Roses to serve 90 days in jail or perform 45 days of Community Labor, and to 36 months probation. During that time, Roses is ordered to have no involvement with any talent training service, talent counseling service, or talent listing service anywhere, including outside the state of California. Roses also was ordered not to be involved with any “camp”, education facility, or day care facility attended by anyone under the age of 18. Failure to abide by the terms of probation will result in Roses being sentenced to at least 6 months of jail. In addition to the above, Roses is ordered to pay $10,700 in total restitution to the three complaining witnesses, and to pay $2,000 investigative costs to the City Attorney’s Office.
Deputy City Attorney Mark Lambert successfully prosecuted the case of Roses who was convicted of … Read More

Manager Jeff Kolodny Joins Paradigm
Veteran talent representative Jeff Kolodny is returning to agenting. He has joined Paradigm as an agent in the talent department. Kolodny comes from Luber Roklin Entertainment where he has been a manager for the past three years. Before that, Kolodny spent 17 years at William Morris where he was a VP in the talent department. It is not clear yet which clients will follow him to Paradigm. Luber Roklin was in the news recently as its youth manager Nick Roses was charged in April with nine criminal counts stemming from an alleged scheme involving acting workshops for out-of-town kids.
Lady Gaga Works It for All Its Worth
Here’s Lady Gaga rehearsing for the Cannes Film Festival. Hell, even wearing just a bra and tights, the chick manages to miss being sexy. HOW the hell does she do that? That’s a talent right there! And we even know Gaga’s mind is in the right place. She advised one of the American Idol contestants [...]
ICM's Scott Schachter Starts At UTA Monday
EXCLUSIVE: What I reported on Monday is now official. The memo just went out at ICM that motion picture talent agent Scott Schachter has exited. He’s starting Monday at UTA, where his two best friends are already agents — Chris Hart, who left ICM for UTA a year ago, and Mike Jelline, who left ICM for UTA five weeks ago. Schachter’s and Jelline’s defections follow ICM’s recent decision to merge its TV and motion picture talent departments and “restructure leadership”. Before that, the TV talent department was overseen by Jelline and the motion picture talent group was co-headed by Schachter who declined to sign another contract when three colleagues were promoted above him.
Talent Agent Scott Schachter Leaving ICM
EXCLUSIVE: I’ve learned that ICM motion picture talent agent Scott Schachter declined to sign another contract with that agency and is leaving. He’s expected to join UTA, where his two best friends are already agents — Chris Hart, who left ICM for UTA a year ago, and Mike Jelline, who left ICM for UTA five weeks ago. Schachter’s and Jelline’s defections follow ICM’s recent decision to merge its TV and motion picture talent departments. The Fascinating Rise & Fall Of Nick Roses, The Wunderkind L.A. Manager Facing Jail
It is a story that has dominated conversations among talent agents and managers this week. On Tuesday, the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office announced that Nicholas Roses, identified as a 21-year-old talent manager based in Studio City, Calif., has been charged with luring parents from small-town America to bring their children to his poorly run but very expensive at $3,000 a pop acting workshops in Los Angeles with the promise to eventually sign the kids.
Why is the case getting so much attention in talent circles? Because Nicholas Roses is actually Nick Roses, a well known youth talent manager working for established management company Luber Roklin Entertainment. Roses, who joined Luber Roklin a year ago, has been running the alleged scheme through his own company, and partner Matt Luber on Thursday told me they were unaware of Roses’ extracurricular activities. Immediately after Roses’ indictment on Tuesday, he was suspended by Luber Roklin pending further investigation. His name has since been removed from the company’s staff directory on Imdbpro. (Meanwhile, several talent agents and managers from other companies told me that they’ve known about Roses’ practices for awhile and the appropriateness of his boot camps has long been fodder for industry gossip.)
There is one other reason for this case being on everyone’s lips – Roses is not just an young turk, he has been a lightening rod. “I can’t think of anyone else of that age who is … Read More
Time Flies For Agent Toni Howard At ICM

There’s nothing that impresses me more than staying power among Hollywood players, none more so than talent agents because that’s such a brutal biz. So today Toni Howard celebrates her 20th year at ICM. (I recall the newsmaking day she led a group of fellow female talent agents who weren’t being treated well at the old William Morris Agency to defect to ICM.) ”They made a very nice celebration and Jeff Berg made a beautiful speech,” an insider tells me.

R.I.P. Barbara Billingsley
Baby Boomers lost a little bit of their childhood today. June Cleaver has passed away at her home in Santa Monica after a long illness. She was 94. Through 5 decades of television she was always a familiar and reassuring presence, especially in the 1950s and early 1960s sitcom Leave It To Beaver. She even made fun of her “Mom” image in the 1980 spoof Airplane! by playing the passenger who could speak jive. Actor Jerry Mathers, who played Theodore “Beaver” Cleaver, spoke of Billingsley’s talent during a 2000 CNN appearance: ”She was a great actress. And in a lot of ways … we kind of stifled her, because her true talent didn’t really come out.”
Bar Refaeli Knows How to Wear Lingerie
Bar Refaeli does what she does best: model lingerie. Hey, I’m not knocking it. Everybody’s got a talent, and Bar’s talent is to look hot. (I say this with complete admiration. And lust.)
Look at Bar’s tits and ass. The chick is gifted in the “body” department. Lingerie was made for a body like this.
