NBC Futuristic Pilot Casts First 2 Regulars
EXCLUSIVE: James Murray (Chaos) and Patrick Heusinger (Royal Pains) are set to co-star in the NBC drama pilot Beautiful People. The project, written by Michael McDonald, is set in the near future in a society where humans co-exist with mechanical androids that look like people but are treated like second-class citizens. It centers on the very wealthy Lydia whose late husband founded the firm that makes Mechanicals. Murray will play her son, a handsome and very successful attorney who’s lived a rich and privileged life but makes a name for himself by publicly suggesting that Mechanicals might have civil rights — a notion that’s largely scoffed at. Heusinger will play a family man employed as a servant in Lydia’s home who is in fact a Mechanical, but after one of his daughters is killed in a car accident, he proves to be “defective” as he’s plagued with forbidden emotions like grief and loss. The pilot, co-produced by ABC Studios and Universal TV, will be directed by Stephen Hopkins.

Ashton Kutcher may have been snapped out and about with Lorene Scafaria in Italy over the holidays, but apparently it’s all business. Ashton tweeted a pic of him cuddled up with Lorene, sparking rumors that the recently-split-from-Demi-Moore star had a new girlfriend.
People.com reports:
“They are just friends,” Kutcher’s rep tells PEOPLE of his relationship with the writer-director, who penned Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist. “They are working on a potential project together about an Italian soccer team.”

LA the Least Honest City?
Which city in the US is the most honest? Honest Iced Tea is finding out with a simple test of honesty… will people pay for a drink?
KSL.com Reports:
“So far, Honolulu is in the lead with 99 percent (of the people being honest). Chicago is second, with 98 percent; and Boston, Dallas and Seattle are tied for third place,” said Corbett Simon, marketing manager at Honest Beverages.
Simon says more than bragging rights are on the line. He claims some of the not-so-honest patrons have encountered bad karma.
“In San Francisco, one of the guys stole a bottle to catch the bus, but he missed his bus too,” Simon said.
So how did Salt Lake fair in the experiment? Citizens here came close to the top with 97.7 percent of the people being honest with their purchase.
The city with the lowest honesty rate, so far, is Los Angeles.
