I understand it’s negative karma to make fun of fat people, but I swear, this is strictly from a fashion standpoint. With that in hand, is that huge flame or a flower? Whatever the case, whoever recommended this dress should be fired.

Toronto Fest Taps Hockey Pic For Opener

Sure, the Toronto International Film Festival is about the jockeying of high-profile pics that starts Oscar season, but hey, it is held in Canada. The September 9 opener? The world premiere gala presentation of Score: A Hockey Musical, a film about a teen hockey phenom who realizes the Canadian dream by being discovered on the ice, and gaining overnight fame. Michael McGowan wrote and directed, and Olivia Newton-John, Marc Jordan, Noah Reid and Allie MacDonald are in the cast, as are Canadian music, broadcast and hockey stars.

I’m told the musical’s producer Marc Platt, book writer Winnie Holzman and songwriter Stephen Schwartz have begun meeting with filmmakers. Insiders confirm that JJ Abrams, James Mangold, Ryan Murphy and Rob Marshall are among the directors who’ve met or otherwise thrown their hat in the ring. More meetings will take place when the musical’s authors come to town in the fall. The film will be made at Universal, which produced the stage musical with Platt.

EXCLUSIVE: The Green Day-fueled American Idiot doesn’t bow on Broadway bow until April 20. Already, talks are underway with Playtone partners Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman to turn the musical into a feature film.

From the looks of these, it appears Javier Bardem loves the booty! Who the hell can blame him, right? That sonofabitchwhorebagluckybastard! Anyway, these were snapped yesterday as the couple vacation in Brazil.

For all you Penelope lovers, you can catch her in two critically acclaimed flicks out in theaters right now. First, it’s the Pedro Almodóvar’s sultry Spanish film “Broken Embraces,” in which Penelope plays a secretary/part-time call girl. How can you go wrong there? And secondly, it’s the celebrity-packed musical “Nine,” which also stars Daniel Day-Lewis, Judi Dench, Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Sophia Loren, Kate Hudson and last but not least, Grammy Award winner Fergie! Phew! It’s a musical, so be wary.
