It will make use of content from Deadline.com, HollywoodLife.com, TVLine.com, and Movieline.com. Here’s the news:
More great content creators coming to YouTube
Wonderful things happen when cool technology meets great entertainment. Cable television expanded our viewing possibilities from just a handful of channels to hundreds, and brought us some of the most defining media experiences of the last few decades– think MTV, ESPN and CNN. Today, the web is bringing us entertainment from an even wider range of talented producers, and many of the defining channels of the next generation are being born, and watched, on YouTube.

No word about Hulu’s effort to find a buyer. But CEO Jason Kilar offers a strong sales pitch for the company in a status report he posted online today. He says the company owned by Disney, News Corp and Comcast’s NBCUniversal is “on pace to approach half a billion in 2011 revenue.” With 875,000 customers in June paying $7.99 a month to watch streamed movies and TV shows on Hulu Plus, “we anticipate exceeding 1 million paying subscribers before the end of this summer” — a target the company originally expected to hit at year’s end. Kilar says that when ad sales are thrown in, “we proudly and profitably pay the content community approximately $8 per subscriber per month for the content offering you see today on Hulu Plus.” The CEO adds that it is able to “thrive on low margins and the unusually effective Hulu advertising service we’

Oren Aviv Meets For Fox Marketing Job, After Joining Digital Artists Board

While we’ve been scattered to the winds today, reports have Oren Aviv possibly taking the co-president of marketing post at 20th Century Fox, which became vacant when Pam Levine stepped down Tuesday after 16 years at the studio. Insiders say that Aviv is by no means a sure thing. There is a “usual suspects” list of seasoned marketing execs that range from Valerie Van Gelder to Terry Press and Gerry Rich. After moving out of marketing to steer  production for Disney, will Aviv be content to step back into a marketing role and share the post with Tony Sella? Aviv has kept a low profile since leaving Disney early this year, but he resurfaced earlier this fall when he joined the Board of Directors of Digital Artists. Aviv has been advising them on digital content, production, creative, branding and strategy. He was brought in by CEO William Kendall and Chief Creative Officer William Kendall.
